It does not follow trends, but experience. Not noise, but precision. Not acceleration, but concentration.
The brand is built on the belief that good things take time, that material carries its own intelligence, and that real quality is not claimed, but proven through use. Everything I make is done at the bench by my own two hands.
Many steps are carried out without electricity, following the rhythm of the work itself rather than the rhythm of a system. Limited by hands & time. The bench decides.
ESDE does not make accessories. It makes Functional Couture Objects — quiet, precise leather pieces for daily use.
Each object is built to function without ever being merely functional. Nothing is decorative for its own sake. Nothing is loud. Nothing needs a logo to have presence.
Above all, ESDE believes in Future Vintage. A piece should not survive use in spite of itself — it should gain through use. Patina is not a flaw, but part of the design language. The leather becomes softer, deeper, more personal. Marks are evidence of a lived object. What is worn changes. That is where its beauty begins. ESDE creates objects that age with their owner — that absorb life, become more familiar, more individual, more true.
My name is Ronny Schröder. I am the founder, designer and sole maker of ESDE.
I grew up in East Berlin, in the chaotic warmth of a large family. My grandfather taught me to build things. I learned early that most things can be made, if you are willing to learn how. I made knives because I could not afford the ones I wanted. Leather came after — first to protect the blades, then as a material that asked more of me than anything before.
In 2014 I started ESDE. Devoted Student of Experience. Four words I wrote down the same week I registered the domain. I did not know yet what the brand would become. I knew what it would stand for.
I have always built with my own hands. Music. Photographs. Sound. Knives. Bags. The same hands. The same logic. Different materials.
In 2020, I stopped.
The markets had collapsed. Eighty percent of my income came through boutiques and trade shows, mostly in Paris. One after another they closed, cancelled, disappeared. I waited two years for something to come back. Nothing did.
My sons had just been born. The compromises got larger than I was willing to accept. I left the studio, moved to the countryside, deleted the social accounts. For three years I did not walk back into that room.
Then, slowly, I did.
This is not a comeback. It is a return. Smaller. Quieter. More honest than before. I know now what I can carry and what I cannot. I promise less. I build more.
