How ESDE works

Why I work this way
New work appears only when it is ready.
I build everything with my own two hands in my atelier in the German countryside. Hours of cutting, sewing, burnishing, folding, hammering. Then weeks or months of sun-oxidation, burying the leather in earth, oxidising it with metal. These are not effects. They are the actual process. The material needs this time to become what it is meant to be.
I do not want to scale. I do not want assistants or a bigger workshop. After the pause and the compromises of the past, I chose to work alone again. This is the only way the objects can carry the honesty and the patience they deserve.
I would rather make fewer pieces that are truly honest than more pieces that are only “good enough”.
If you feel the same — if you value time, material and the quiet rhythm of slow work — then ESDE is for you.
How releases work
Releases happen only when I have finished a curated batch of pieces and feel it is good. There is no calendar. There is no permanent shop.
When a release is ready, I send an email to everyone on The List with a private link and a password to a hidden shop.
You open it. You see exactly what I made. You order what is still available.
When it is gone, it moves into the archive. Numbered. Documented. No restock.
Practical tips
- Be on the page the moment the release goes live.
- If you see something you want, buy it quickly — one piece at a time. I will always combine multiple purchases into one parcel and refund any overpaid shipping.
- The shop page moves into the archive and stays online after the release, so you can see what was offered, the descriptions, sizes and prices. It is not there to create pressure — it is there so you can see the pieces, their codes, when they were built, and what to expect next time.
Only those on The List can see and buy the new work.
Wholesale
Not generally anymore.
After working with over 40 of the world’s top retailers for many years, I consciously stepped back from large-scale wholesale. I realised that trying to work like a factory as a craftsman was the wrong way for me, and did not make the most important thing better — the piece itself.
That said, I am always open to interesting proposals — special projects, trunk shows or thoughtful collaborations. If you have something meaningful in mind, please get in touch.
Shipping
I ship worldwide.
Every piece is carefully packed by me in the atelier and sent with full tracking. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout and are always the actual cost — I do not add any markup.
For orders outside of Germany (and especially outside the EU) you may have to pay import duties, taxes and customs fees in your country. These are not included in the price or the shipping cost shown on my website, and are entirely your responsibility.
I wish shipping was cheaper, but safe and proper packaging for leather pieces that have taken months to develop is not light and not cheap. I use the most reliable carriers I can find. Delays at customs can still happen.
If a parcel is returned because of unpaid duties or refused delivery, I will refund the item price minus the shipping costs I already paid (both ways).
If you have any questions before ordering, just write to me. I answer every mail personally.
